BESTIVAL PORT STORMED BY AREA 51

Area 51 performers were buoyed up by a stunning reception after taking one of the UK's best festivals by storm! One of the largest ever crews of artists from Area 51 appeared at Bestival on the Isle of Wight and won huge plaudits after four days and nights of hard work and hard partying that left them three sheets to the wind. Bestival once again sported a nautical theme and this year saw more than 50 51 performers pull together at the Robin Hill Country Park which was once again flooded with revellers up for heady hedonism on the “high seas” of the landlocked site.

Area 51 performers were buoyed up by a stunning reception after taking one of the UK’s best festivals by storm!

This year’s theme was ‘Desert Island Disco’ and as in 2013, the dance arena was called The Port stage, containing a giant life-sized ship complete with huge funnels. Area 51 unleashed mayhem via the crew of dancers, performance artists and a wide range of characters that reflected the nautical theme.

After last year’s success, the Area 51 team doubled in size. With a back-breaking schedule of performance slots, the team worked hard together, splicing the main brace and working on stage, as walkabout characters and starring in the annual procession.

Bestival 2014 was hailed a record-breaking success with headline sets from OutKast, Foals and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, as well as disco action from Major Lazer, Disclosure, London Grammar, Basement Jaxx, Sven Väth, Annie Mac, Chase & Status, DJ Yoda, and The Cuban Brothers.
