IT’S NOT JUST Santa Claus, his elves and reindeer who help build Christmas joy… add Area 51 to that list after a gargantuan effort to help create one of the world’s largest ever festive themed events propelled the company into spotlight.

London’s much-loved annual holiday event, “Winter Wonderland,” returned after the pandemic to record attendances and rave reviews and Area 51 staff worked long and hard to make it happen.

51 has long been involved in the design, build and installation of scenery, set design and more at the event but the 2021-22 version saw their biggest involvement yet.

Months of hard work paid off when eight articulated lorries were dispatched to the capital laden with a vast array of items to be installed for the event held in Hyde Park-.

Area 51’s Rich Moore said: “After a year off due to COVID we were back with a bigger than ever effort; we were more involved and high end production was more immersive.

“Footfall was up over previous years proving that the public has a big appetite to get back into attending large events.”

Notable installations from Area 51 included the all new Magical Ice Kingdom, a wider ice slide with increased lanes, an ice sculpture studio, a larger Explorers’ Rest and Bar Ice areas and a major makeover of Santa Land.

A crew of 40 spent three weeks installing the sets at the central London location and Area 51 are already planning on improving and increasing their workload for the next event scheduled for six weeks beginning in November 2022.
