UNITED CARPETS – CONFERENCES WITH CLASS

United Carpets hold annual conferences for managers of their many British branches, and they love to do them in style in sunny southern Spain. Area 51 have been their partners of choice for these events for several years.For our seventh year with the carpet giants, we were asked to transform the Guadalmina Spa and Golf Resort Hotel in Marbella to resemble a mediaeval castle, called "U-Nite Hall".The key challenges were the short set-up time and converting a huge modern glass-sided restaurant into a medieval-esque castle wall. To deliver the theme on time, Area 51 technical staff were despatched to the venue while décor and props were transported via an articulated lorry overland.

On site the team expertly executed a floor-to-ceiling installation in only six hours

For a subsequent spring symposium they wanted a fresh concept, and we created an idiosyncratic international food bazaar. It was provided for our client complete with stalls and the flags of the featured nations and incorporated indigenous gourmet food. Like many of their conferences, the event was further enhanced by Area 51 performance artists undertaking key hospitality and entertainment roles.

Each time we work together to find them the perfect theme. Our conference hall of fame also includes a World War II bunker to convey a price-war message, a celebratory 1920s cabaret, a special dazzling theme which we called Illuminations, and their very own circus transformation, complete with Big Top gala-dinner table centres and specially selected Area 51 circus entertainment.

FRIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY!

Celebrities and members of the public were treated to another ghoul night out in London for Halloween thanks to TV star Jonathan Ross….and Area 51! Ross’ annual October 31 shindigs have become the stuff of legends over the years as he opens up his north London mansion to the public for a chilled night of fun and fright. As usual, 51’s expert team of set designers, performers and other creatives went to work to transform the entrance to the star’s plush home to create an event christened as “The Fabulous Mr. Jonathan Ross’ Carni-Hell.”

BRAVING ‘THE ASYLUM’

A horde of Halloween hedonists headed into hell as they braved a bone-chilling scaremaze. Pleasure seekers were treated to one of the scariest interactive horror attractions seen in the U.K. staged inside a popular nightclub in the north-west. Area 51 remodelled the popular Camp and Furnace club in Liverpool into “The Baltic Asylum,” a harrowing hospital where inmates had been kept locked up behind doors for decades.

American disco-glam group, Scissor Sisters, regularly team up with Area 51 to help create stunning show costumes and props for their extravagant live performances
