SEASIDE TREATS, NOT TRICKS

Helping to “trick” people into the treat of being by the seaside, Area 51 sent a team of dream-makers to the coast on a mission. And it was a case of “mission accomplished” as visionary artisans from 51 created an attraction that turned out to be right up the street of shoppers in Southport on Merseyside. Design and installation staff built a temporary Dickensian street in the centre of the seaside town in time for Halloween to help drive shoppers into the area.

And when families walked through the attraction – called “Trick Or Treat Street” – they were greeted by spooky characters hiding behind doors. Unusually for Area 51, this was a “light-scare” event designed for children rather than the chilling, scary experiences that the company has become famous for.

A team of ten workers helped create the installation which included a truss structure set up, brick panel frontage to create houses and shops with roof panels and trees and entrance arch. They even used 4,000 litres of water to weigh down the set which 51 built on behalf of Julia Charles.
