MALDIVES MAGIC IS A FAIRYTALE

Once upon a time in a magical land far, far away gathered fauns, fairies, a friendly giant and jesters to inject magic into an enchanted Easter experience on a paradise island. A troupe of whimsical characters turned up at the luxury Maldives resort of Amilla Fushi as if they had just been conjured up from a tome of Brothers Grimm tales and then spent a week mesmerizing jet-set guests. All wicked witches and evil sorcerers were kept at bay and when the clock struck 12.

Nothing was turned into a pumpkin and the revelry carried on into the small hours at the stunning location which is located inside the UNESCO biosphere reserve at Baa Atoll in the Indian Ocean. Considered to be one of THE most beautiful holiday locations on the planet, the resort is situated on Finolha Island, which is part of the Maldives.

The Area 51 team was kept extremely busy throughout its week-long stay and members performed multiple different roles. It was the second time that 51 had worked at the luxury resort and the Easter experience came hot on the heels of the stunning New Year 2015/16 show staged there.

The team arrived in the Maldives well prepared and brought with them a wide array of fairy-related costumes plus the latest high-tech Digilegs equipment for stilt walking performers. This was highlighted when fauns appeared among the forest landscapes on the edge of the tropical sand dunes.

As well as hosting a magical Easter egg hunt, the team organised and staged a children’s fashion show plus a sumptuous evening of entertainment at a deluxe gala dinner. Performers delighted guests with a fire show, aerial and hoop and silks skills, as well as a brilliant contortion act which drew gasps from onlookers. Matt Lemon gave a brilliant display of various circus techniques including juggling.

Close-up magic and caricatures were also provided by members of the Area 51 crew.

The Amilla Fushi experience was one of two that Area 51 was involved with at Easter in the Maldives.
