LINKEDIN ICE CAVE

Professional networking leaders LinkedIn asked us to come up with a unique concept that would excite the senses for their largest corporate recruitment drive, Talent Connect London, to be attended by 1,200 delegates. A brainstorming session produced several ideas but top of the pile was an immersive ice cave. The next step was to bring the concept to life with the construction of a 3D model, providing the dimensions required for making a bespoke framework on which to create the cave. It had to look cool but feel comfortable and cosy. An experienced team of 35 crew had 36 hours to turn the London Hilton Metropole room into a wonderland of white and blue. The main cave structure had to be erected before ice-like panels were added.

THE BRIEF:

Professional networking leaders LinkedIn asked us to come up with a unique concept that would excite the senses for their largest corporate recruitment drive, Talent Connect London, to be attended by 1,200 delegates. A brainstorming session produced several ideas but top of the pile was an immersive ice cave. The next step was to bring the concept to life with the construction of a 3D model, providing the dimensions required for making a bespoke framework on which to create the cave. It had to look cool but feel comfortable and cosy.

THE BUILD:

An experienced team of 35 crew had 36 hours to turn the London Hilton Metropole room into a wonderland of white and blue. The main cave structure had to be erected before ice-like panels were added.

No real ice was used in the build. Next 5,000 litres of snow carpeted the floor and computer monitors were sunk into the cave walls. Juice and food bars plus low-level seating allowed guests to network comfortably throughout the event. Soft lighting created the perfect ambiance. Area 51 are experts at venue transformation, including rigging and derigging stunning décor to tight timetables.
