There is also a popular Krampus variation on the theme, whereby the costumes can be altered to represent the Germanic Christmas-time demon – a horned, anthropomorphic figure that punishes naughty children at the end of the year in contrast to St. Nicholas, or Santa Claus, as he is better known.
