Coventry became a town called Alice at Christmas as Area 51 unveiled its new stunning circus show at the Ricoh Arena where thousands of revellers plunged down the rabbit hole into a magical world of fantasy.

The brand-new Alice In Wonderland circus proved a staggering success for the Area 51 team as it was born under the lights in front of more than 10,000 party-hungry punters who swarmed to the huge sporting arena to celebrate yuletide festivities.

The 51 design team came up with an eye catching series of props and installations which commuted the Coventry venue into a nouveau ‘Wonderland,’ as rabbit hole tunnels joined different areas of the vast building together.

Additionally, a sumptuous stage set was built for the main performances that featured a tea party table and an enchanting throne while the drinks reception area was re-designed in Alice style and a photo opportunity wall was also installed so customers could grab the chance to pose with the Cheshire Cat for a souvenir.

Area 51 also created a wonderful choreographed show which was hosted by the enigmatic Mad Hatter played by Luke da Silva and featuring an array of eclectic artists who each brought a different skill expertise to proceedings.

The spectacular show included pole dancing, fire breathing and aerial silks plus hand-balance and comedy juggling, the latter of which was superbly performed by Matt Lemon and Klas Tacer. Stilt walking performers were on hand for a meet-and-greet session as guests arrived for the evening before sitting down to eat a meal prior to the main entertainment programme which also included live music.

Two impressive rabbit holes showed revellers the way into the building and then into the main arena.
