A WALK THROUGH THE HUMAN BRAIN

THE BRIEF:

Working with clients EMC3, create a perfect arena to stimulate guests’ ideas and interaction for professional networking giants, LinkedIn, for a major recruitment event. The thought-provoking ‘brain-storming’ at the Business Design Centre in North London had two themes – art and science.

THE BUILD:

The main staircase was the portal between the art and science networking areas. It passed through two brain hemispheres with an array of plasma balls to depict synaptic energy, and incorporated a spinal cord of drapes.

Together symbolised thought and action. Elegant ‘lava lamp’ bubble towers were arranged throughout the room with its 40 custom designed tables.

Other science-area décor consisted of DNA helixes, 130 linear metres of event visuals and a giant light wall, while state-of-the-art ‘power stations’ allowed visitors to charge their devices during networking. The art area featured stunning graphics panels sprayed by a team of graffiti artists over three nights. A Banksy-esque sculpture added to the contemporary art theme.

The concepts, designs and construction for this event were the work of Area 51 working with clients EMC3. Area 51 also enhanced the evening drinks reception with a brain-baffling close-up magician and a DJ complete with a surreal TV-screen full-face helmet.
