When In It Together calls, Area 51 answers… in style!
From towering stilt walkers to mischievous meets-and-greets, the team has been dialling up the atmosphere at one of Wales’ best-loved festivals, In It Together and its sister event, Together Again. Big energy, bold characters and immersive moments that stop crowds in their tracks…
FESTIVAL FLAIR, DIALLED UP
Two festivals, endless imagination… For several years, Area 51 has been adding a unique flair to two of the UK’s most exciting festival experiences: the long-running In It Together at Margam, near Port Talbot, and its more recent offshoot event, Together Again at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire.
In It Together has grown into one of the UK’s most beloved family-friendly festivals, attracting thousands to Old Park Farm, Margam Country Park in south-west Wales each May for music, arts and enchanting entertainment.
Building on this success, Together Again was launched in the summer at the stunning grounds of Bolesworth Castle at Tattenhall in Cheshire, offering a three-day celebration of music, performance and interactive fun for all ages.
Area 51 has been a regular fixture as part of the entertainment landscape at both events, supplying walkabout characters, stilt walkers, meet-and-greet performers and interactive acts across different seasons. Whether adding atmosphere to bustling festival zones or enhancing themed cabaret spaces, their creative cast have helped make these events as memorable for festival-goers as the headline line-ups themselves.
A particularly memorable collaboration at In It Together saw Area 51 push the boundaries of immersive performance with a playful, tongue-in-cheek take on a dungeon-themed bar experience. Festival organisers wanted something with a raunchy, camp and fetishistic flair to flavour the space – but done in good humour and without explicit content. Area 51 rose to the challenge, dressing characters in suitably evocative costumes and deploying performers who captivated audiences with sleazy, theatrical swagger that perfectly matched the cheeky vibe the festival sought to create.
Beyond these themed bar spectacles, Area 51 also supplied a rich array of cabaret and circus style entertainment to both festivals. Revellers were delighted to encounter shows with themes like Charlie & The Chocolate Factory whimsy to the larger-than-life spectacle of The Greatest Showman as well as others – adding a sense of wonder and variety to the festival program.
Across several years, Area 51’s contributions have become part of the fabric of both In It Together and Together Again, helping to bring immersive, quirky and amusing moments to life for audiences of all ages. Whether on stilts, prowling the crowd as fantastical characters, or welcoming attendees with theatrical panache, Area 51’s performers have helped make unforgettable weekends beneath the summer skies.
