Heavy contingents of Area 51 acts have performed at the world-famous Download Festival in Britain.
The festival has been held at Donington Park in the East Midlands since 2003 featuring the legends of hard rock including Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Slipknot, Motörhead, Linkin Park, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Soundgarden, Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, my Chemic al Romance, Whitesnake, Rammstein, Judas Priest, ZZ Top, Kiss, Faith No More, Fall Out Boy and Def Leppard.
And Area 51 have provided walkabout characters in a wide range of guises from steampunks to the company’s VoodooGeddon troupe plus the fun inclusion of bigheads.
The hard-working team of acts helped keep festival-goers entertained with the usual diet of high-octane brilliance and edgy antics. During daylight hours, walkabout stilt performers provided welcome photo-ops for punters while the celebrated touring show, Igor Rasputin’s Caravan Of Lost Souls rolled around the arena area and pitched its tent to whoops and applause of thousands of mud-coated revellers.
The Caravan featured a wide range of exceptional talents including Evelyn Frantti and Jojo Bones, Luke da Silva and psychic Simret as part of the team.
Iron Maiden, who were in the middle of their Book Of Skulls 2016 World Tour, were accompanied by their giant Mayan mascot Eddie, who originally escaped from Area 51’s compound in central England during the winter months before locating and teaming up with Bruce Dickinson and co. He has since visited innumerable countries around the globe.
Eddie proved to be one of THE highlights of a downpour-heavy Download and gave him the opportunity of a fond and thrilling reunion with his former Area 51 colleagues.
