Igor Rasputin’s Caravan Of Lost Souls has become a staple of Area 51’s legendary entertainment packages, adding vaudevillian va-va-voom and off-the-wall ingenuity at major festivals and corporate events across Europe.
The show-stopping travelling circus is essentially a Victorian box-on-wheels that unfolds into a gloriously Gilliam-like stage set. Led by exiled ringmaster Igor Rasputin and wheeled along by domesticated chimps, it’s transported with a troupe of freaks and followers.
Once the caravan reaches its destination, it rolls to a stand-still so the compliant chimps can assemble the structure in a flash, ready for showtime and then the bizarro Rasputin introduces a diverse cast of kooky crew members to tread the boards and deliver high-octane fun.
It’s a pop-up circus sideshow that can be designed to suit clients’ wishes and budgets.
Different performers are used depending on the event and can include, among others, fakirs, strongmen, magicians, fire breathers, contortionists, musicians and a myriad of other twisted circus acts offering up the caravan’s trademark explosive grandeur, fun and outlandish skill.
The caravan has also been modified to provide a more child-friendly programme of acts on occasions, although its usual repertoire has been known to make a Vicar blush and make the undead dance for joy. Roaming or static versions of the show can also be provided.
Igor Rasputin and his band of troubadours have become a popular fixture on the festival calendar and has been given the seal of approval at the likes of Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, Download, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, In It Together, Hard Rock Hell, the Sci-Fi Weekender and Camp Bestival.
This twisted circus troupe of misfits have also starred at conferences and corporate events.
