Uni students arriving for their freshers’ ball were treated to a stunning reception and left wowed as some of the best circus performers around greeted them in style! Acrobats, dancers, magicians, aerial daredevils, stilt-walkers, clowns, jugglers, contortionists and fire performers surprised students at Southampton with a jaw-dropping display of dexterity and hilarity as Area 51 took its celebrated Greatest Showman themed circus show on the road.

A large contingent of Area 51 acts were on hand to give students a night to remember after the company created an ad hoc circus ring using its renowned décor and scenery skills outside the entrance to the university building where the ball was being held.. Among the acts were a gaggle of mischievous gentlemen chimps, trapeze artists Paul and Katy from Britain’s Got Talent, Little Lauren, the Black Eagles acrobat team, jugglers Matt Lemon and Jason Maverick, Zoltan, contortionist and acrobat Beth Sykess and hula hoop star Amanda Wesley.

A large co-ordinated fire show and dance routines were also staged as guests arrived for the ball and the part of the ringmaster was performed superbly by Luke D’Silva. Area 51 technicians installed a free-standing aerial rig especially for the occasion and the company’s much-liked giant birdcages were also used as additional scenery props.
