FLOWER POWER COMES UP ROSES

Area 51 turned on the flower power to help make a major UK conference a blooming success!

The company's crack décor crew rustled up more than 3,000 artificial flowers as part of a giant effort to impress at the Tropic Skin Care event staged at one of the UK's highest profile new conference centres sited in Birmingham.

Thinking big, the 51 team used 360 square metres of ivy netting, 280 metres of fairy lights, 195 square metres of drape, a collection of white trees, 76 table centres and more than 10,000 cable ties to help create a striking makeover with a "Midsummer's Night Dream" theme at The Vox Centre in Resort World, close to the National Exhibition Centre in the Second City.

And Area 51's alluring fauns hooked up with other entertainers to sprinkle copious amounts of magic dust over proceedings and inject a dreamy surrealism as 750 ladies gathered at the Tropic gathering.

Preparing for the event, Area 51's workshop team pulled out all the stops to manufacture all items in just three and a half days while the installation and build crew of 12 managed to complete the makeover in just one day of hard graft, including the placing of décor in the ceiling area.

As well as a couple of Area 51 faun characters utilising the company's digilegs, aerial specialist Beth Sykes performed on a hoop suspended inside a giant birdcage while Natalie Goode and Abbie Grindrod were the featured girls in a Hanging Archway on display in the room, adding extra to the Midsummer's Night Dream atmosphere.

Tropic Skin Care came to national recognition in 2010 when company founder Susan Ma appeared on the hit TV show The Apprentice and Lord Sugar invested to become a 50/50 partner.
