The sun was all but shy too, not meaning the newspaper of course – the island is well guarded 24/7 to ensure the pap’s stay at bay! Easter celebrations were well under way upon our arrival with superb decorations spanning island wide, giving us an unsuspected eyeful of intricately painted eggs and beautifully bespoke bunnies. We provided the proverbial chocolate mini-egg on the exotic Easter cake the islanders had already created.
The theme was one of our personal favourites: Alice in Wonderland! Six of our finest had been working hard on recreating their characters. Our dedicated seamstresses created new customised characters specifically for the event, including a stunning rendition of the Queen of Hearts and a trio of contorting card costumes. After a tropical rainstorm postponed the Gala Dinner that would feature our Mad Hatters tea party, the sun baked troupe reluctantly consented to remaining on the island a little longer, showing team spirit in the face of adversity! Or that is at least how they told the story to HQ...
At long last, the Gala Dinner was underway and the Mad Hatter, Alice, the March Hare took their places at the Tea party whilst the three contorting cards cavorted through the tables creating shapes never thought possible with the human body! It was by no means an easy performance, with temperatures never dipping below 35 degrees Celsius, but the team pulled through and gained island wide celebrity status – even with the actual A listers! The following morning saw a midday egg hunt, this time with the sun beating down on the team at a dangerously high 40 degrees. Sweat and tears fell thick and fast, but nobody considered breaking character even for a moment.
Until next time... “Shukuriyya!“
