Two sizeable teams of performers from Area 51 had the mercury rising at Bestival and Zoo Project with stunning shows that reinforced the company's position at the forefront of leftfield entertainment.
The late summer festival season reached a scorching climax as the sizzling September events left punters with great memories to savour.
Bestival, which was staged at the Robin Hill Country Park near Newport on the Isle of Wight was the first of the two bashes and had a wildlife theme. Area 51 debuted a number of head-turning animal-related costumes at the four-day event which is now widely recognised as one of the most eclectic and innovative festivals in the UK today.
Some Area 51 creations appeared for the first time during the Bestival Bloco Carnival parade. Costumes on show throughout the festival included King Kong, boxing kangaroos, chimps, giraffe, bird characters including the brand new Quetzalcoatl creation, penguins and much more beside.
A King Kong show, a mesmerising display of contortion and a Beauty & The Beast themed performance were staged on the Al Fresco stage together with a further appearance by the ever-popular Jackir The Fakir.
Walkabout characters mingled with festival goers and stilt-walking performers and dancers also took part from Area 51.
Motown giant Stevie Wonder headlined Bestival at the head of a thrilling bill that also included Florence & The Machine, New Order, Sigur Ros, The XX, Bat For Lashes, The Horrors, Soulwax, De La Soul, Inner City, Orbital, Friendly Fires, Two Door Cinema Club, Gary Numan and many others.
